Former
Excite@home workers not excited to be at home
In what is being seen as possible act of
cowardice on the part of management, 13% of Excite@Home workers
got a memo Monday that said simply, "You get to work @home
now!". No mention was made as to whether or not the employees
would be paid for their work from home.
"I think I just got laid off,"
said Technical Writer, Stanley Skelton, "but I'm not sure.
I think they're taking this @Home thing literally."
Excite shares are down 180% from this time
last year. Shareholders and employees alike are confused by today's
layoff-type behavior.
"When I call my boss' phone, his voice
comes on and says that I have reached some flower shop and definitely
not Excite@Home," said Skelton.
"Then when I knock on his door he talks
in a falsetto voice and tells me that he's just the cleaning lady
and that she's alone. I'm beginning to get suspicious."
