Daddy
Day Care coming to IMAX Theatres
Daddy Day Care, Eddie Murphy's
latest "smash" comedy, will be shown for a limited time
only on IMAX screens in June. The box office hit for the 4-6 year
old age group, which has also been been dubbed the "nail in
the coffin for Eddie Murphy's Career," will be remastered using
the IMAX DMR conversion technology, which takes a 35mm print and
outputs to 70mm without losing quality.
"We're excited to give fans the opportunity to experience
the world of 'Daddy Day Care' in this spectacular format,"
raved producer John Davis. "The awkward silences between funny
jokes will seem that much longer. If you thought the movie wasn't
funny on a normal sized screen, just wait until you get a hold of
it 8 stories high! The poop jokes still aren't funny, but they're
really, really big!"
"We asked our customers what movies they'd like to see in
the IMAX format and the answer was almost unanimous," said
IMAX president of filmed entertainment, Greg Foster. "'Daddy
Day Care' ranked in there number one with the two Matrix sequels
running a distant second and third, respectively."
The film, which has been called everything from "appalling"
to "a slight improvement over Pluto Nash," has recently
garnered somewhat of a cult following on the Internet. The story
follows two men, who after getting fired from their advertising
jobs, decide to open a day care. The two men quickly get a crash
course in child-rearing, while Murphy and Jeff Garlin get a crash
course in reassembling their completely wasted careers. Hilarity
ensues.
"I can't wait, to tell you the truth," stated Kyle Jones,
11. "Now it will be painfully obvious how shitty Eddie Murphy's
career has turned out. And to think, it all started with a transvestite
hooker."
Daddy Day Care IMAX will open June 20th.
