We at the WP were touched by a recent interview we saw that detailed the tragic effects of the Enron collapse on all people directly involved. It seems that CEO Kenneth Lay’s Wife revealed that she had to sell her Ford Excursion and buy the smaller and more economical Ford Expedition.

Not since Marie Antoinette has a public figure helped assuage the fears of a skeptical public with her touching words. We were so moved that we decided to start a fund to help buy Mrs. Lay back her Excursion. If we don’t live in a country were a criminally negligent CEO’s pampered wife can’t drive an 18 foot SUV, then this isn’t the same America that generations of my ancestors fought and died for!
